Dr. Kimutai Maritim is a Veterinary Doctor at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation of Kenya. He has been Chairperson of the Codex Committee for Africa (CCAFRICA) since 2017 and is working in the Ministry as a Deputy Director of Veterinary Services.
Kimutai Maritim graduated in Veterinary Medicine in University of Nairobi, Kenya and specialized in Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics at the same University. He has worked as a public servant in the Ministry for 22 years. He is a member of the National Codex Executive Committee and National SPS Committee. He is also National Coordinator for Standards and Market Access Programme (SMAP), did a Position Paper on Livestock identification and traceability in Kenya with International Livestock Research Institute in 2014.
He was appointed to Livestock Identification and Traceability System Task Force 2018. He has performed two risk assessment missions on Poultry and poultry products in Uganda (2007) and Tanzania (2008) respectively. Currently Kenya is the Codex Coordinator for Africa region and Maritim as the Chairperson.
