Dr. Musa Achimugu Dickson obtained a Ph.D. in Pharmacological Biochemistry from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2011. He holds a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Biochemistry from the Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria (1998 and 2004 respectively). Dr. Dickson’s background in ICT, derived from his work at an ICT company between 2000 and 2004, has provided him a platform from which he could deploy innovative methods in his teaching and research into drug discovery from traditional Nigerian medicinal biodiversity.
Dr. Dickson Musa has held teaching positions at various times in different Universities in Nigeria and is currently teaching and carrying out research as an Associate Professor of Biochemistry at Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Nigeria. His bench experience as an application Specialist in Molecular Diagnostic equipment at Roche Diagnostics GmbH, Manheim Germany is invaluable in communicating scientific information in practical and applicable ways to his students.
Dr. Musa has also held research positions in all the institutions at which he worked. As a Visiting Scientist to Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR) in Basel, Switzerland, Dr. Musa worked extensively on the Isolation and Structural Elucidation of Bio-active Plant Constituents as Prototypes of Potential New Drugs. Dr. Musa’s research interest spans drug discovery to toxicology to molecular epidemiology to applied and industrial biochemistry. Dr. Musa is a member of several Nigerian and international Scientific Societies concentrating on Biochemistry or Biotechnology or Molecular Biology or Microbiology.
