Dr. Alexander Ikechukwu Ajai

Dr. Alajai120exander Ikechukwu Ajai is an Associate Professor of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry, Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria. He obtained his MSc Industrial Chemistry in 1995 from University of Benin, Benin City, Nigerian and his Doctorate Degree in 2011 from the Federal University of Technology Minna Nigeria. He has over eighteen years Teaching and Research experience in the University educational system. His research activities have been centered on quantification and remediation of toxic heavy metals and other contaminants in water/wastewater, raw and processed foods and food products.

He collaborated with other Researchers within the Institution to win a Tetfund Research grant amounting to $4, 166.60. He has supervised and graduated over twenty BTech and eleven MTech Students. He has also co-supervised and graduated a PhD student and several MTech students whose research works were on heavy metals quantification and remediation in food and environmental media. He was the Departmental Postgraduate Programme Coordinator (2015-2017). He is a member of the Federal University of Technology Minna, Directorate of Research Innovation and Development (DRID) Research Proposal evaluation committee. He is a member of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) and Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON).

He is a reviewer to some National and International Journals. He has over thirty (30) publications in various International and National Peer reviewed Journals. He is the Research Team Leader of the Heavy Metals and Pesticide Residues Unit with the Africa Centre of Excellence for Mycotoxin and Food Safety, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria.
